Practices and business models in the software arena have been evolving, more so with the advent of component-based architectures, open source and free software formats. In relation, software intellectual property (IP) issues are growing in complexity and importance. Players along the software value chain may end up compromising benefits and facing risks, if they are not careful in managing the IP aspects concerned.

The seminar takes you through the key forms of IP associated with software applications, strategies to determine the suitable modes of IP protection to adopt, management and usage of IP under the various contexts, as well as issues related to software development. Representatives from the industry will also be present to share their perspectives and practical experiences in IP.
